The Brief
Proposition Studios is a charity that supports emerging artists by providing affordable studios, presenting exhibitions, and supporting the professional development of its artist community. Proposition Studios also runs a public programme which aims to provoke imagination and action around the positive impact human beings can have on biodiversity and ecological resilience. Starting in Proposition's former base in Camden, Proposition turned to Alice Black in early 2023, asking her to direct its artistic programme. From January 2025, Alice's work shifted to advise Proposition on finding a long term base for its operation and scaling up the organisation.
Our Solution
Since April 2023, Alice has worked closely with the Proposition team to propose models of engagement with artists, shape its artistic programme, commission new work, and put in place processes for delivering its artistic activities.
Alice has curated Open Studio days and temporary exhibitions, which align with Proposition’s mission to give opportunities to emerging artists to show their work and support a positive approach to the ecology.
Alice has also provided introductions to her extensive network to help promote Proposition’s innovative mission to a wide range of potential supporters and partners.
